Education on all things homeownership

Highlights from Our 2023 Social Responsibility Report

February 10, 2024 Blog, Company News

Your home is one of the most important purchases you’ll ever make.

Over 47,000 Customers chose to finance their homes with us in 2023. Each one of them placed enormous trust in our team to guide them on the path to homeownership.

It’s our responsibility to live up to that trust. We strive to always do the right thing for the right reason, provide the best possible experience for everyone involved and further the standards of social responsibility within our industry.

Our 2023 Social Responsibility report outlines the steps we take to serve our Customers, Associates and Stakeholders in three areas: equality, culture and community.

Our Commitment to Equal Opportunities

We’re proud to serve Customers from all backgrounds with the same commitment to Quality, Value and Integrity. To make homeownership more accessible for Lennar Customers, we offer a variety of programs to fit their needs.

  • Lennar Mortgage “Advantage” Down Payment Assistance: Added in 2023, this program allows qualified Customers to buy a home with 0% down. The Lennar Mortgage “Advantage” program pairs a fixed-rate FHA first loan with 3.5% DPA in the form of an amortizing second loan.

  • HomeBuyer Solutions Group (HBSG): Our complimentary credit education service, HomeBuyer Solutions Group, is offered to Customers whose credit profile may be holding them back from qualifying for a mortgage. About 70% of our 2023 HBSG graduates celebrated closings with us!

  • First-Time Homebuyer Programs and more: We also offer personalized guidance through other Down Payment Assistance and First-Time Homebuyer Programs, which vary based on location, loan program and other qualifying criteria.

  • Accredited Social Impact Lender (ASIL) Certification: In 2023, the National Association of Minority Mortgage Bankers of America (NAMMBA) recognized us as being in the top 5% of mortgage lenders in social impact and racial equity.

Our Approach to Workplace Culture

We recognize that our success depends on our Associates – which is why we’re devoted to providing an environment where they can be their best. Through both everyday action and long-term strategies, we’re committed to celebrating diverse talents, nurturing Associate growth and maintaining a welcoming environment.

  • Everyone’s Included: We all benefit from an environment where each person can show up as their authentic self. The wealth of experiences, backgrounds and ideas our Associates bring to the table are essential to how we do business.

  • Everyone’s Included Day: In addition to other PTO, Associates receive one flexible paid holiday, their Everyone’s Included Day, to engage in something of personal significance to them.

  • Women in Leadership: In 2023, over 57% of people leaders within our organization and half of our executive team were women. Merit and growth potential are always at the forefront of our hiring and promotion decisions.

  • Wellness at Work: Through our Well-Being Max program, virtual wellness classes and insightful newsletters from our Chief Medical Officer, we incentivize putting wellness first.

  • Mortgage Banking Bound Certificate: In collaboration with Barry University, we launched the Mortgage Banking Bound Certificate Program – a unique, practical introduction to the mortgage industry.

  • Nurturing the Next Generation: Why search for the best talent when you have the power to create it? Through our NextGen program and summer internship opportunities, we’re providing growth opportunities to young professionals.

Care for the Communities that Support Us

Our responsibility goes beyond caring for our Customers and Associates – it’s also our role to leave the communities where we work and live better than we found them. To do so, we must continually innovate on doing business sustainably and donate resources and time where they're needed most.

  • Green Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS): We provide loans on energy-efficient Lennar homes that are used in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s mortgage-backed securities.

  • Paperless Mortgages: In 2020, we introduced the option for remote closings with digital notaries, using technology to minimize paper waste. In 2023 alone, we eliminated paper waste equivalent to saving about 130 trees.

  • MBA Opens Doors Foundation: Each year, our Associates raise funds for the MBA Opens Doors Foundation, a charity that provides rental/mortgage assistance to families with critically ill children.

  • Dolphins Cancer Challenge: We support the Miami Dolphins Challenge Cancer (DCC), which gives 100% of participant-raised funds to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.

  • Focused Acts of Caring: In 2023, Associates self-reported over 250 hours of volunteering and giving back to their communities. This included volunteering at soup kitchens, fulfilling holiday wish lists, gathering essentials for survivors of domestic violence and more.
